File-sharing programs

File-sharing means the exchange of data on the internet (games, music, programs, pictures etc.) by means of programs like Kazaa or Emule.

There are two different techniques. One possibility is to offer data that can be downloaded from a central data processor (server). The second possibility is to store the data on the users‘ computers.

If illegal contents are found in file-sharing programs, the feature of the content is copied and forwarded to the responsible authority specifying author, subject and the name of the program.

How to make a report?

Please send us any possible information (name, origin,...) about the program you are using, as there are many different file-sharing programs.

If you come across illegal contents, please include the following information in your report:

  • search term
  • subject
  • artist

Some programs offer the possibility to copy the properties, which is useful for processing these reports. It is also advantageous if you are able to find out the artist’s IP-address as well as any other additional information.

NOTE: The sole specification of the file-sharing program is not sufficient for processing a report, because of the huge amount of data.
